UPDATE: Recently, I wrote an article on the new laws going into effect on January 1, 2014 concerning smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. The article created a fair amount of questions and confusion amongst readers (and the author as well).
After the article was written and appeared in the magazine, Senate Bill 745 was enacted making changes to the original law and pushing the implementation of the law to at least July 1, 2014.
In the weeks ahead, I will research the topic and write a follow-up article addressing the specific questions directed toward me by readers, changes to the original version of the law, and how and when the law will ultimately be implemented. Look for it in an upcoming issue of your AOA magazine! In the meantime, relax….nothing needs to be done by January 1, 2014.
