The Alameda Rent Program started accepting program annual fee payment for Fiscal Year 2023-24 beginning June 1, 2023. Landlords may submit payment by credit card or e-check through the Rent Registry portal or sending checks by mail.

Beginning September 1, 2023, a penalty of 10% of the unpaid program fee will be applied, plus 10% each successive month with a maximum penalty of 60%.

The following fees are owed on all rental units in the City of Alameda:

  • $162 for fully regulated units: This includes all multi-unit properties (two or more units on a legal lot or record) built before February 1995.
  • $109 for partially regulated units: This includes single-family homes (and any permitted accessory dwelling units on the same lot), condominiums, and townhouses, as well as multi-unit properties built after February 1995.
  • No fee is due for privately owned units in the Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) program: The City Council has again agreed to cover these fees to encourage participation in the subsidization program.

The fee is owed on any residential unit that will be rented to a tenant at any time during the City’s fiscal year, from July 1, 2023, to June 30, 2024.

Fee amounts are updated annually in accordance with Resolution 15771.
