“Property must be secure, or liberty cannot exist.” – John Adams

Property is certainly not secure when our elected officials can force a housing provider to labor and not even receive the minimum wage, pay for outside services such as utilities that renters use and provide housing free of all expenses and charges.   All this and the provider hardly knows the person (consumer) he is being forced to support!

Pretty hard to believe America is still a free country, let alone being a country where liberty still exists for property owners.  This new Marxist/Sanders form of government has destroyed housing as evidenced by all the homeless, and has certainly destroyed our liberty as mentioned by John Adams.

You, my friend, have been enslaved to serve housing consumers!  This is a hard one to believe but these Marxist/Sanders politicians haven’t even heard a peep out of some housing providers reading this.   We all know that the squeaky wheel gets the grease, however, there are still housing providers who have not personally done a darn thing to help stop this takeover by the state.  They have just laid down and basically said, “Go ahead and take it all and then shoot me like they did the landlords in China!”  Really?

If you are one of those, YOU can be partially blamed for the loss of our liberties by just sitting on your hands and expecting others to fight for your freedom and property rights.  Come on, let them hear from you too!  There are thousands of providers who should be reimbursed for their labor, expenses and use of their property, while these politicians have made it possible for their renter friends to actually steal thousands of dollars from us with no hope of ever being paid for all that back rent.  Since the state and city laws made all this stealing possible, they, and/or the consumers, should pay us back!  It is a big lie that they are giving all providers and consumers money for all back rent owed.  Their “generosity” is being extended to only low-income consumers while leaving many providers out in the cold!

Gangsters or Just White-Collar Criminals?

They break the law by extending the CDC moratorium while Biden knows the Supreme Court ruled against it in a 5-4 decision.  They lie to us about dates when they will end moratoriums (we predict the state will extend again after the recall unless our “Protest” works), all the while stealing from us by controlling our rents and forcing us to provide free rent to help them get re-elected by using your property.

How Can We Stop This Evil Injustice?

The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men [housing providers] do nothing!  – Edmund Burke

You ask, “What’s the Association doing?” and I say “wake up” and realize that you are the Association and the Association can only lead the fight.  You must participate if you still value your liberties and property rights.  You can actually lead by joining the biggest ever “Protest” for property rights and our cherished liberty.  We must ALL (that includes you) be willing to spend some of our time and resources to win back our property rights and to secure our liberty!  Since you value your property rights AND your rental property and liberty, please make sure that you have taken the following three steps laid out below.

Again, they break the law, they lie, they cheat, they steal, and they add insult to all their damage by using housing providers’ property to get re-electedWhat’s it going to take to get you and all other housing providers to participate in this biggest ever “Protest” and financially support lawsuits against this Marxist/Sanders form of future government?  Are you going to sit by, do nothing and watch this evil persist? When can they damage you enough?  When is enough enough, if not NOW?  The future is now for our kids and grandkids!  So……

Here’s How:

  1. Please join the big “Protest” today by sending the Governor the protest form (click here for form).  Make a copy and also send it to at least the mayor of your city and city councilmembers.  If you are really, really concerned about your loss of property rights, add county, assembly and senate members to your list. You can find their names and addresses by Googling it at “(your town) city councilmembers” or “(your county) board of supervisor members” or “California assembly members”, etc.  Also, include a copy of the letter following this article in addition to what you may want to write on the “Protest” form.  Also, you can download copies of the “Protest” and obtain more copies of the letter by going to do it NOW.  Do something! I THANK YOU!
  2. Make sure that your membership in AOA is up-to-date. Please go to join.   To just get on the FREE AOA email list so that you will know what’s going on in the industry along with reading this magazine each month, go to and scroll down to the bottom.  You’ll see a little square on your right; enter your email and you’ll automatically receive all future emails free of charge.  (You can remove your name at any time.)  Also, you can download copies of the “Protest” and obtain more copies of the letter by going to
  3. Buy some “political insurance” to help protect your property.  Many owners spend thousands and thousands of dollars buying regular insurance and then forget about the values that they may lose by the actions of thieving politicians.  The best “political insurance” available is through your “Political Action Committee”.   How much should it cost?  How about $1,000 or $100 per unit?  That’s a very low price for insurance when you consider what could happen. It takes money (millions and millions of dollars) to file lawsuits and support campaigns when anti-housing laws are put on the ballot, like Propositions 10 and 21, that our industry defeated in the past AND will have to do again in the future … hopefully, with your support to win again!
Please do not go “naked”!  Buy a little “political insurance” by donating to your AOA PAC today.  To donate online, go to  Thank you for your support!

    The Honorable Gavin Newsom

Governor of the State of California

    1303 10th Street, Suite 1173

    Sacramento, CA  95814

    Dear Governor Newsom:

You will agree that there are “housing providers” and “housing consumers”.  Now, stop and think… which group do you suppose is the most responsible for the housing shortage?  People who already provide it or those who consume it AND those who pass unbearably restrictive laws that delay construction?  Kind of obvious, huh?  Sooo … why are we being blamed and punishedWhy are our life savings being redistributed to others?

Please, please help us stop all other elected officials from harassing housing providers!  These officials are guilty of contributing to the homeless problem, so please convince your colleagues that elected officials ARE the housing problem.   Housing providers are the solution!  Will you help others embrace housing providers instead of punishing and destroying them with all the anti-housing and/or all the anti-provider laws??  Let’s reward the providers for providing housing and thereby doing such a good job of reducing the number of homeless people.

Also, every college Economics 101 textbook teaches us that “rent control causes a shortage of housing”.  What’s wrong with our elected officials?  Why don’t they follow the science?  It’s been proven over and over again and again.  Rent control has caused the destruction of housing!

Are our officials ignorant or are they just greedy for the tenants’ votes?  Do they not believe in our proven American Economic System of Free Enterprise, or do they really believe in Bernie Sanders’ socialistic dream of re-distributing wealth that has always failed every nation that has seriously tried this destructive system?  We cannot afford to cover another family’s living expense!  We’ll eventually lose all of our life’s savings.  We have already lost a large amount that we will never recover.  It’s hard enough to cover our own family expenses.

Please give us your answers as you will be reaching one of the largest groups of individually organized housing providers in the State.  If you prefer, we can even print your reply in our official AOA magazine.  Over 100,000 individual copies are mailed to housing providers every month who would appreciate you replying specifically to the above questions.

Thank you for considering these facts and maybe giving us some of your ideas.

    Best regards,

    cc:  locally elected officials
