Rent relief priority will be given to applicants who lost income and fell behind on rent because of the Palisades and Eaton fires, as well as displaced families running out of FEMA or insurance relocation money. Families who lost income because of a breadwinner being detained or prevented from working because of federal immigration raids also will have priority.
The next vote on rent relief is scheduled for Tuesday, September 16th. If passed, the rent assistance program would take approximately 90 days to be up and running.
The countywide eviction moratorium was a late addition to the agenda and will require a formal motion to be drafted.
